Congolese striker Yoane Wissa has made a significant impact at the 2026 World Cup, scoring three goals during the group stage. This achievement places him among a select cohort of African players who have accomplished this feat in a single tournament edition.

Wissa kicked off his scoring with a goal against Portugal in the opening Group K match. He then added to his tally with two goals in a match against Uzbekistan on June 28, the final day of the group stage.

With three goals, Wissa joins legends such as Papa Bouba Diop of Senegal, who scored three goals in the 2002 World Cup, as well as Ismael Saibari and Ismaïla Sarr, who also netted three times during the group stage of this year’s tournament.
