This summer, FC Barcelona is making a concerted effort to strengthen their central defense with several options under consideration. The club’s primary target continues to be Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan. However, the current patterns in the transfer market could lead to intense competition, prompting both clubs to reassess their strategies.
While Bastoni is viewed as the top choice, Cristian Romero of Tottenham Hotspur is also on Barcelona’s radar. Reports suggest that the Argentine defender could leave the London club this summer, independent of their final ranking this season.
According to Sport, Barcelona officials have engaged in preliminary discussions regarding Romero, a development that has reached Bastoni and his representatives.
Inter Milan has set Bastoni’s market value at approximately €60 million. In contrast, Barcelona is reluctant to offer more than €50 million for the player. This discrepancy in valuation may compel Inter to reassess their position, particularly as the amount could potentially be sufficient to secure Romero’s signing.
