Relebohile Mofokeng has shared the instructions provided by coach Hugo Broos during his introduction in Bafana Bafana’s match against Czechia last night. Mofokeng came off the bench in the second half, replacing Oswin Appollis as the national team was trailing by a goal at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.

“The coach’s instruction was that I must play behind the defensive midfielders because there was space there,” Mofokeng told SABC Sport. He remarked on the performance of his teammates, noting that while they initially did well to find spaces, there was a need for more attacking opportunities.

“In the second half, we did very well to apply pressure and attack them,” Mofokeng added. He reflected on his debut World Cup experience, stating, “The coach just told me to be confident and to believe in myself. He believes in me, so I must believe in myself.”

Mofokeng acknowledged the challenge of playing at such a high level, saying, “The game was very difficult because obviously this is the biggest stage. You just need confidence, and you need to believe in yourself.” He emphasized his determination, stating that he aimed to be himself and do his best on the field.
