Stéphanie Frappart, the pioneering French referee, is set to conclude her professional officiating career at the end of the 2025/26 season, as confirmed by the French Football Federation (FFF). At 42 years old, she has already been appointed to the UEFA Referees Committee, where she will take on a new role following her retirement from on-field duties.

Frappart has made significant contributions to football since becoming an international referee in 2010. Notably, she made history in April 2019 as the first woman to officiate a Ligue 1 match. Her distinguished career includes refereeing at the 2022 World Cup and overseeing UEFA Super Cup matches, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in global refereeing.

The FFF has highlighted the immense impact of her work on the evolution of refereeing. Federation president Philippe Diallo remarked that Frappart has “paved the way for an entire generation of women aspiring to become referees,” emphasizing that her legacy will continue to motivate future officials in the sport.
