Antoine Semenyo has addressed the considerable expectations placed on him by fans in Ghana during a recent appearance on the “In The Mixer” podcast. The Manchester City forward discussed the scrutiny that players experience while representing their nation.
Semenyo stated, “In Ghana, the expectation is that every ball I touch has to be in the back of the net. If it’s not, you’re crap. That’s how they are. They love football over there; football is everything, so when we don’t do well, it’s a meltdown. There’s a lot of pressure.” His comments illuminate the high standards and emotional investment of Ghanaian supporters in their national team.
In addition, Semenyo lamented the absence of Mohammed Kudus, who will miss upcoming matches due to a setback in his injury recovery. The Tottenham Hotspur player has been out of action since December.
“It’s frustrating, because he’s a pivotal factor for the team for sure,” Semenyo said.
