Real Madrid’s preparations for their Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Bayern Munich were disrupted by a late-night incident.
Details: According to El Chiringuito, a group of German fans gathered outside the hotel where Los Blancos were staying. This group of die-hard Bayern supporters set off fireworks right under the players’ windows, attempting to deprive the Real squad of sleep before their crucial match at the Allianz Arena.
Such intimidation tactics have become common in European football as the knockout stages reach their peak. The organizers of this late-night display intended that a sleepless night for Real’s key players would give Bayern an advantage on the field. The sound from the fireworks echoed across several city blocks.
The return leg between Bayern and Real Madrid is scheduled for today, April 15, with kickoff at 21:00 Central European Time.
Reminder: Álvaro Arbeloa made another bold statement ahead of the clash with Bayern.
