Chelsea Football Club is reportedly in discussions to appoint Spanish football icon Xavi as their new head coach. According to a report from The Independent, the 46-year-old is now seen as the leading candidate for the managerial position following the club’s ongoing search for a suitable replacement.
The club’s management is looking to initiate a significant overhaul and believes that Xavi’s vision aligns well with their aspirations for a fresh start. Currently, Xavi is a free agent after parting ways with Barcelona in 2024, having previously managed Qatari side Al-Sadd.
As it stands, Chelsea sits ninth in the Premier League standings, and their hopes for European qualification are diminishing following a recent home defeat to Nottingham Forest. The club’s leadership aims to reverse their fortunes and is focusing on Xavi as a pivotal part of their rebuilding efforts.
