The French national team is currently grappling with defensive lineup challenges as they prepare for their World Cup journey. Reports from L’Équipe indicate that 27-year-old right-back Jules Koundé has suffered a muscle injury during a recent friendly match against Northern Ireland, which France won 3-1. Koundé, who started the match, had to be substituted at halftime after experiencing pain, with Malo Gusto taking his place on the field.

Following the game, the medical staff of the French squad alleviated concerns regarding Koundé’s condition. They stated that, as of 48 hours later, the injury appears to be minor, suggesting that the prompt substitution helped avert a more serious issue.

With just six days remaining until France’s first official World Cup match in the USA, there is optimism that Koundé will fully recover in time for the start of the group stage.

Additionally, tensions within the French squad are reportedly increasing, particularly following Kylian Mbappé’s departure from the team camp, which has drawn significant criticism.
