FIFA has announced the officiating team for the highly anticipated opener of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring Australia and Turkey. The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 14 June 2026.

Venezuelan referee Jesús Valenzuela has been assigned to lead the officiating crew for this inaugural Group Stage encounter. He will be responsible for ensuring the match adheres to the rules and maintains fair play.

Valenzuela will be assisted by fellow Venezuelans Jorge Urrego and Tulio Moreno, who will serve as assistant referees for the match. Additionally, Michael Orue has been appointed as the video assistant referee (VAR) for the occasion.
