The Egyptian Football Association is making efforts to convince a group of referees.
These referees have been chosen by FIFA for the World Cup this summer, taking place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. With the tournament less than two months away, they were set to officiate a Premier League match between Zamalek SC and Pyramids FC, but reportedly declined the assignment.
The referees expressed their concerns about avoiding media scrutiny, controversy, or disputes that could tarnish their reputation ahead of the World Cup.
