Enzo Maresca is set to take over as Manchester City‘s head coach next season and is already active in the transfer market. The Italian manager is reportedly prioritizing the acquisition of Enzo Fernandez, aiming to bolster the midfield.
According to The Touchline, Fernandez is receptive to the move, expressing a desire to play in the Champions League under Maresca’s guidance. Discussions between the two have already taken place regarding a potential transfer to Manchester City.
The potential transfer is strengthened by existing tensions between Fernandez and Chelsea‘s management, especially following the player’s public interest in joining Real Madrid. This season, the midfielder has played 53 matches for Chelsea, scoring 15 goals and providing 7 assists. His current contract extends until the summer of 2032, with a market valuation of €90 million according to Transfermarkt.
