Themba Zwane and Sphephelo Sithole will miss only the upcoming clash between Bafana Bafana and Czechia, as FIFA has suspended them for a single match instead of the anticipated two. This decision comes after both players received red cards during the World Cup’s opening match against Mexico, which took place at the Azteca Stadium, where Bafana lost 2-0.
Initial concerns suggested that Zwane and Sithole would be sidelined for the remaining Group A matches against Czechia and South Korea. However, these concerns have been alleviated, allowing Hugo Broos’ creative player, Zwane, to participate in the final group match.
In their absence for the Czechia match, young player Relebohile Mofokeng may receive an opportunity for a rare starting position in the World Cup. Additionally, Thalente Mbatha is likely to fill Sithole’s central midfield role alongside Teboho Mokoena.
Thursday’s match is scheduled to take place at the Mercedes Benz Stadium, starting at 6 p.m. South African time.
