Following a decisive 2-0 victory in El Clásico, which secured the La Liga title, 21-year-old Spanish international and Barcelona midfielder Gavi shared his insights on the 2026 World Cup. His comments reflect the prevailing sentiment around the tournament, particularly regarding Argentina’s chances.
Gavi acknowledged the enduring greatness of Lionel Messi, emphasizing his status as the top player worldwide. He stated:
“Argentina is the main favorite for the World Cup, since they are the reigning champions.
Leo Messi is still the BEST player in the world. As long as he’s playing, Argentina will be the best team.”
