Jamie Vardy has made headlines with his unconventional approach to recovery during his time at Leicester City. In a recent interview, the 39-year-old former striker revealed that during the 2015/16 season, which marked Leicester’s historic Premier League title win, he often played while under the influence of alcohol.

Vardy disclosed that he would consume a peculiar mix of vodka and Skittles candies before matches to manage his injuries. This admission left Leicester’s medical staff shocked, as they disapproved of his method. He recounted,

“While I was recovering from an injury, I used my own secret recipe for recovery: I filled bottles with colorful Skittles candies and washed them down with vodka. When the club doctor found out, he nearly lost his mind; he said this drink only made my muscle tears worse. Medically, he was probably right, but that season I became a Premier League champion thanks to this strange vodka mix.”

During his tenure at Leicester from 2012 to 2025, Vardy emerged as a key player, netting 24 goals and providing 7 assists during the title-winning campaign. Overall, he made 500 appearances for the club, scoring 200 goals and contributing 21 assists.

Currently, Vardy plays for Italian side Cremonese after transferring in the summer of 2025 for €1.25 million.
