Speaking candidly, Kroenke confirmed board member Otto Maly, who oversaw construction of the 100,000-capacity SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, is already drawing up renovation plans.
“I never got to experience Highbury,” Kroenke said, expressing a desire to restore some of that iconic character to the modern venue.
On Arteta, whose current deal expires next summer, Kroenke left no ambiguity: “Keeping Mikel around is utmost priority.” Talks are set to resume after Saturday’s Champions League final against PSG.
Arteta has guided Arsenal to their first league title since 2004, capping a rebuild that has cost the Kroenkes roughly £250m in player investment last summer alone.
The Emirates currently has a season-ticket waiting list exceeding 20 years — a number that will only grow following the Gunners’ long-awaited championship.
