Former Sevilla sporting director Monchi has revealed that Sergio Ramos is eyeing a key executive role amid the former Real Madrid defender’s efforts to acquire the club, while not ruling out the possibility of the presidency.
Ramos is leading a consortium, likely backed by Five Eleven Capital, in a proposed €450 million takeover of his boyhood club to revive the fortunes of the Andalusian outfit, which has been plagued by financial distress and a decline in prominence.
“If you ask Sergio Ramos, his partners, or the Sevilla shareholders, they are not 100% clear on what is going to happen either. I know that he, I do not know if as president, wants to be in the thick of the decision-making for the club’s future,” said Monchi.
