The long-standing rivalry between Spain’s football giants, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, has intensified as Real Madrid has initiated a legal confrontation. According to reports from AS, Real Madrid has formally submitted a comprehensive package of arbitration documents to UEFA pertaining to the controversial ‘Negreira case.’
Real Madrid’s management has adopted a firm position, urging UEFA to impose severe sanctions on Barcelona, including the annulment of the club’s past sporting achievements. The ‘Royal’ club’s appeal demands two significant measures that could have serious repercussions for Barcelona.
The proposed sanctions include the complete exclusion of Barcelona from all European club competitions for several years and the revocation of all titles won by the Catalan side in recent seasons. Real Madrid contends that these trophies were obtained through dishonest means due to Barcelona’s alleged connections with former referees’ committee vice president, José María Enríquez Negreira.
In an unrelated development, Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.
