Former FIFA president Joseph Blatter has publicly addressed the ongoing visa scandals associated with the current FIFA World Cup. In his remarks, Blatter reminded the current FIFA leadership of the fundamental values that underpin the world’s most significant sporting event.

Blatter stressed that any nation awarded the privilege of hosting the World Cup assumes rigorous international responsibilities. He highlighted two essential obligations that must be ensured by the host country: comprehensive internal security and unrestricted entry for all qualified teams, officials, and referees.

The criticism from Blatter arose in light of the issues faced by Somali referee Omar Artan, who encountered significant immigration hurdles while trying to reach the tournament. Blatter condemned this incident as a clear violation of both FIFA regulations and the basic commitments expected from the host nation.
