In a notable act of appreciation, Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is reportedly planning to reward FIFA and CAF referee Omar Artan with a five-bedroom house. This gesture follows Artan’s disappointing exclusion from the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reports indicate that arrangements for this special recognition are already in progress. The announcement comes just days after Artan was unable to attend the global tournament, despite being selected as one of FIFA’s match officials.
Initially, the Somali referee made it onto FIFA’s official referees list for the 2026 World Cup. However, he was ultimately barred from participating due to entry issues into the United States.
