Yaya Toure has officially been appointed as the head coach of Slovan Bratislava, marking his first role in a managerial position. The announcement was made on Saturday, June 13, and Toure has signed a three-year contract with the Slovakian club.
The former Ivory Coast international and renowned midfielder for FC Barcelona and Manchester City has previously held several assistant coaching roles before this significant appointment. Toure, who is 43 years old, expressed his enthusiasm following the signing of his contract.
“I am very happy and excited. Honestly, I can’t wait for us to start working together on Monday,” he stated. He also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor, indicating a desire to build on the club’s previous successes while integrating his own unique approach.
Toure highlighted his passion for football, describing it as everything to him. “I love a challenge and I’m incredibly excited at the prospect of managing a great club with a rich history, a magnificent stadium and big ambitions,” he added. He noted the significance of this opportunity, particularly mentioning a recent Champions League match he watched, which featured his new team against Manchester City.
