Former Ajax Amsterdam and Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has expressed confidence that Bafana Bafana will secure a victory against Mexico in their World Cup opening match at the Azteca Stadium tomorrow.

Pienaar believes the current squad surpasses the 2010 team that faced Mexico in South Africa. He played in the memorable match where the two teams drew 1-1 at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium on the same date and month.

“I might get shot in the head if I say this, but I’ll say it, it’s gonna be 2-0 for Bafana Bafana,” Pienaar stated during an interview on SABS Sport.

He further noted that he finds the current Mexican team to be weaker compared to the 2010 version, reinforcing his belief in a 2-0 victory for South Africa. The match is set to commence at 9 PM South African time.
