Alex Iwobi is on the verge of achieving a significant milestone as he prepares to make his 100th appearance for the Nigerian national team in an international friendly against Portugal on Wednesday in Leiria.
The 30-year-old midfielder currently has 99 international caps and is poised to become only the fourth player in Nigeria’s history to reach the prestigious century mark. If he participates in the match, Iwobi will join an elite group that includes former Super Eagles captains Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama, and Ahmed Musa.
Having made his senior debut for Nigeria in October 2015, Iwobi has established himself as one of the most reliable and consistent players within the national team setup. Over the years, he has played a crucial role in various qualification campaigns and major tournaments, becoming a mainstay in midfield.
