Borussia Dortmund is reportedly close to securing the transfer of Bastien Meupiyou, a 20-year-old centre-back currently playing for Portuguese club Alverca. The young Frenchman, who was born in Senegal, has attracted significant interest following a breakout season.
Renowned journalist and insider Ekrem Konur has indicated on his X social media page that Dortmund has made an official offer for Meupiyou. The club is currently in talks with Alverca and has already submitted a formal bid, positioning themselves as frontrunners in the race for the defender.
Meupiyou, who joined Alverca from Wolverhampton U18 in the summer of 2025, made a substantial impact last season, recording 32 appearances despite not contributing any goals. His market value is estimated at 7 million euros, according to Transfermarkt.
In related news, a prominent Dortmund player has been ruled out of the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
