Pape Gueye, a Senegalese midfielder, has articulated the ambitions of the Senegal national football team, known as the Lions of Teranga, as they prepare for the upcoming World Cup.
In a recent interview with Brut, Gueye discussed the team’s objectives, emphasizing their readiness for the tournament scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Senegal has been drawn into a challenging Group I, where they will face formidable opponents including France, Norway, and Iraq.
Despite the tough competition ahead, Gueye remains optimistic about Senegal’s prospects. He conveyed confidence in the team’s abilities to perform well at the World Cup, fueled by their recent success in winning the Africa Cup of Nations.
With the national team, we’re going to try to finish the year on a high note because we’ve won the Africa Cup of Nations. So I think that by going to this World Cup with a great deal of humility but a lot of confidence, we’ll do everything we can to win it.
